Urinary Tract Infection
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is infections in the bladder and kidney. When it affect the lower urinary tract it is knows as bladder infection (cystitis). When it affect the upper urinary tract its is known as kidney infection (pyelonephritis)
Symptoms
Symptoms of lower urinary tract (bladder infection) include pain or burning during urination, frequent urination and sensation of having to urinate more frequently than normal.
Symptoms of upper urinary tract include fever and flank pain (upper abdomen or back and sides) usually in addition to the symptoms of lower UTI.
Diagnosis
Urinary tract infections are diagnosed based on the history of your symptoms and test done on your urine.
Treatment
With antibiotics urinary tract infections can be treated.
